The Lone Cypress stands as one of the most photographed trees in North America, perched dramatically on a granite outcrop along the rugged coastline of 17-Mile Drive. This solitary Monterey cypress has weathered Pacific storms for more than 250 years, becoming an enduring symbol of the Monterey Peninsula and a highlight of any journey through Pebble Beach. On a guided e-bike tour, the Lone Cypress arrives not as a quick roadside snapshot, but as a moment to truly pause, breathe in the salt air, and appreciate why this windswept sentinel has captured imaginations for generations.
Rolling along 17-Mile Drive on a smooth electric bike, you will glide past Spanish Bay, the white sands of Bird Rock, and the sculpted dunes before the coastline opens up to reveal the Lone Cypress in its full glory. Your guide shares the history and lore of the tree, from its protected status to the way its twisted limbs have been shaped by centuries of wind and sea spray. With the e-bike doing the heavy lifting on the rolling terrain, you can focus on the view: crashing surf below, cypress-studded bluffs above, and the iconic silhouette that has inspired painters, photographers, and travelers for over a century. The pace at the Lone Cypress is unhurried, giving you time for photos and quiet reflection that a car tour simply cannot offer.
This experience is ideal for couples seeking a romantic afternoon, photography lovers chasing that perfect coastal frame, and active travelers who want to see the Monterey coast at a human pace without exhausting themselves on hills. Families and first-time visitors to Pebble Beach will appreciate how easy the e-bikes make the journey, while seasoned cyclists enjoy the freedom to soak in the scenery. Whether it is your first glimpse of the Lone Cypress or a long-awaited return, arriving by e-bike turns this legendary landmark into the centerpiece of an unforgettable ride along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in California.
This outfit really delivers when it comes to wildlife viewing and quality equipment. Reviewers consistently rave about spotting sea otters, seals, and sea lions during kayaking tours, with some even catching glimpses of whales. The staff gets tons of praise for being helpful and professional, and guides like Ann, Jan, and Sydney earn special mentions for their knowledge and patience with beginners. People appreciate the thoughtful amenities too: heated floors, changing rooms, dry suits, towels, and waterproof bags all come included. Both kayak tours and bike rentals seem to be solid options here. The bike cruisers work great for scenic rides along Cannery Row, while the kayaking trips cater well to first-timers and families with kids. Kyle, the owner, apparently goes out of his way to accommodate guests' needs and ensure everyone has a good time at their own pace. One reviewer did mention a rude staff member during kayak launching, but that seems to be an isolated incident in an otherwise welcoming operation. The location in Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary makes for spectacular views and memorable experiences on the water.
We had booked a kayak tour for an early birthday outing and we are so glad we did! Jan was a fun and helpful guide. We got so lucky to go in a hot day. Wasn't sure what to wear but learned that you can basically wear any pants, shorts or top because they provide outer layer shell tops and pants to go over your clothes and keep them dry. My husbands shorts got wet from the seat as he sat in the back... mine did not. Your feet will get wet for sure. I wore flip flops..hw went barefoot. We absolutely loved seeing the sea otters (some had babies) and sea lions. It was an amazing adventure and we will be back to rent a kayak to go on our own now that we know how it is. If you are in the area.. this adventure is so special. ❤️
