This Austin e-bike tour earns consistently glowing praise for its engaging guides and effortless way to explore the city. Captain Kid, Captain Edge, Captain Morpheus, and the rest of the crew get repeated shoutouts for being knowledgeable, entertaining, and genuinely passionate about showing off Austin's food scene, music history, and hidden gems. The electric bikes make it accessible even for rusty riders, and clever touches like speakers on each bike ensure you catch all the commentary. Groups love it, solo travelers enjoy the personalized attention, and many visitors say it's the perfect way to orient themselves at the start of a trip. One reviewer mentioned feeling slightly rushed as a solo rider and missing some stops due to focusing on bike handling rather than sightseeing. However, this appears to be an isolated experience. The overwhelming consensus is that guides take their time, ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe, and often go the extra mile with detours or photo opportunities. Several reviewers specifically noted this as the best tour they've taken, which speaks volumes from experienced travelers.
We rented bikes without a tours and it was great. Super laid back and friendly staff that were easy to deal with. All the gear was in good condition and ran well, no issues. Came with helmets, locks, and UV-protectors for the bikes seats which it turns out was needed. Also free parking. The style of bike is certainly a bit uncomfortable on the legs to pedal, but if you’re mainly using the throttle, they’re very comfortable. Great for checking out the trails around the lake.
