This veteran-owned operation runs tours on an authentic decommissioned fireboat, which gives the whole experience a unique, intimate feel compared to the massive crowded vessels from bigger companies. Cliff gets mentioned repeatedly as an exceptional guide who brings Chicago's architecture and history to life with engaging commentary throughout the 1.5-2 hour journey. The crew consistently earns praise for being friendly, professional, and attentive, while the bartender adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Tours cover both the lake and river, with the locks being a particular highlight that sets this apart from standard architecture cruises. The smaller boat size means better views and a more personal experience that works well for everyone from architecture enthusiasts to families with kids. One reviewer noted the guide's continuous narration felt a bit much, but most found it informative and entertaining. Organization and communication from booking through the actual tour get high marks, and early arrival passes let you snag front-row seats for optimal views.
