Lonnie brings over a decade of experience from his time working at Colonial Williamsburg, and that expertise absolutely shines through in his tours. Visitors consistently praise his storytelling ability and how he makes history engaging without being dry or overly formal. He offers several different tour options, including ghost tours, Patriots walking tours, and specialized topics like the history of slavery, all of which receive glowing feedback for being both entertaining and educational. What really stands out is Lonnie's personable, laid-back approach. He welcomes questions, adapts well to different group sizes (even intimate tours with just a couple of people), and keeps things moving at a comfortable pace. Families appreciate that he captures kids' attention alongside adults, and multiple reviewers mention his considerate nature, like finding shade on hot days. The small group settings and one-hour format work well as an introduction to Williamsburg, though a few guests wished the tours ran a bit longer. His deep knowledge of the area, combined with his friendly and passionate delivery, makes this an excellent choice for first-time visitors and returning travelers alike.
My wife and I took the tour with Lonnie yesterday. Before hooking up we happened to speak with another two tour guides who informed us that Lonnie used to work for that same company for several years. Well his experience was evident! The one hour tour was extremely informative without being “stuffy”. We received exactly what we were hoping for. An introduction to the history of Williamsburg. Thanks Lonnie !!
