Plan for an early launch. You typically get on the water around 6:00–6:30am to catch bait before heading to deeper water.
Bring sunglasses, a hat, a towel, non-spray reef-safe sunscreen only, extra beverages or snacks, GoPro or camera gear, and a fishing permit.
The tour description lists a fishing permit under “What you bring,” while the booking notes say a permit is provided. Clarify this with Greetwell before booking so you know whether you need to bring your own permit.
Olowalu Beach, Lahaina
La and Lauren run an outstanding operation that brings something genuinely different to Maui's ocean activities. The eco-friendly pedal kayaks are a game-changer – reviewers consistently rave about how easy they are to use and how the hands-free design lets you focus on photography or just enjoying the moment. Multiple families mention bringing kids as young as six or nine who handled the kayaks without any issues. What really stands out is the versatility and intimacy of these tours. Guests love the quiet, up-close whale watching experiences during season, which feel far more personal than crowded boat tours. Fishing trips are equally popular, with many first-timers catching mahi mahi, uku, or barracuda and cooking their catch that same evening. La gets particular praise for his local knowledge – tracking whales, finding the best spots, and making everyone from beginners to experienced anglers feel comfortable. The snorkeling excursions regularly deliver encounters with turtles, monk seals, and vibrant reef fish. Communication is excellent too, with one couple noting fair handling of a weather cancellation. The small group sizes and the guides' relaxed-but-professional approach create memorable experiences that have locals and repeat visitors coming back season after season.
Awesome time! My husband caught more fish than I could count. The pedal kayaks were so easy to use.
