    More about the Mayflower II

The Mayflower II rests proudly along the Plymouth waterfront, a full-scale reproduction of the 17th century ship that carried the Pilgrims across the Atlantic in 1620. From the deck of the Plymouth Harbor Narrated History Cruise, you get a perspective on the Mayflower II that very few visitors ever experience, viewing her tall masts and weathered hull from the water itself, just as she would have appeared when she first arrived in this very harbor. The cruise glides past the ship while a knowledgeable narrator shares the story of the Pilgrims' arduous voyage, the conditions on board, and what it must have felt like to finally sight land after sixty-six grueling days at sea.

As the boat moves through the calm waters of Plymouth Harbor, the Mayflower II comes into full view, her rigging silhouetted against the sky and the State Pier framing her stern. The narration brings the scene to life with stories of the passengers, crew, and the cramped quarters where families lived for more than two months. You will also pass other landmarks tied to the Pilgrim story, including Plymouth Rock and the Plymouth shoreline, but it is the Mayflower II that anchors the journey both visually and historically. The salt air, the cry of the gulls, and the gentle rocking of the boat make the past feel surprisingly close.

This cruise is perfect for history lovers, families with curious kids, and anyone visiting Plymouth who wants more than a quick photo from the pier. Seeing the Mayflower II from the water gives context that a land-based visit simply cannot match, and the narrated commentary turns a scenic harbor ride into a memorable lesson in early American history. If you want to understand why Plymouth matters and to experience the Mayflower II the way history intended, this cruise is the most rewarding way to do it.

    Review summary

    4.6
    Excellent
    91 reviews•Google Maps

The crew here clearly knows how to create memorable experiences for families with young kids. The Pirate Cruise gets tons of love for its engaging captain and interactive elements like water cannon battles, treasure hunts, and limbo contests. Parents and grandparents consistently mention how the staff connects with children, and many have returned to try different offerings like the Lobster Eco Tour and Ice Cream Cruise. Captain Noah and the team get called out by name for being personable, informative, and genuinely entertaining. A few hiccups pop up worth noting. Weather cancellations happen, though one family felt the communication could have been better when their cruise was called off. Another guest had trouble with a dietary accommodation that didn't come through as promised, despite advance coordination. Parking can apparently be tricky during busy times. Still, the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests most visitors have a blast, especially those with kids roughly ages 4-10 who seem to be the sweet spot for maximum enjoyment.
