Peninsula State Park sits along the rugged shoreline of Door County, Wisconsin, where limestone bluffs rise above the deep blue waters of Green Bay and dense hardwood forests stretch for miles. Covering nearly 4,000 acres, Peninsula State Park is one of the most beloved natural escapes in the Midwest, known for its winding shoreline trails, towering Eagle Tower, and quiet coves that feel worlds away from everyday life. Gliding through this landscape on a Segway lets you cover more ground than walking while still moving slowly enough to soak in the scenery, the birdsong, and the cool breeze coming off the bay.
The Segway tour weaves along the paved and packed paths of Peninsula State Park, taking you past sweeping bluff overlooks, shaded forest stretches, and pockets of wildflowers and ferns. You will roll past scenic lookouts where the water glints between the trees, glide beneath canopies of maple and birch, and pause at viewpoints that capture the dramatic contrast between cliff and shoreline. A trained guide leads the way, sharing stories about the park's history, geology, and wildlife, while the smooth motion of the Segway makes the miles feel effortless. The fresh scent of pine, the rustle of leaves overhead, and the distant call of gulls all add to the immersive feel of exploring Peninsula State Park on two wheels.
This experience is perfect for couples looking for a memorable date, families with older kids and teens craving something more active than a hike, and travelers who want a fun, low-effort way to see a lot of Peninsula State Park in a short amount of time. First-time riders are welcome, since the tour begins with a full training session before heading out. Whether you are visiting Door County for the first time or returning to a favorite summer haunt, a Segway tour through Peninsula State Park is a fresh, exhilarating way to fall in love with its forests and shoreline all over again.
Segways turn out to be surprisingly easy to master, even if you've never tried one before. Multiple reviewers in their 70s picked it up quickly thanks to patient, skilled instruction from guides like Mark, Brian, and Randy. The training portion gets everyone comfortable within minutes, and from there it's smooth cruising through Peninsula State Park, Cave Point, Fish Creek, and even Washington Island. These aren't just rides either - guides frequently stop to point out wildlife, mushrooms, lighthouses, and scenic photo opportunities while sharing local knowledge about the area. What really stands out is how the guides blend safety, education, and fun. Brian gets consistent praise for making people feel secure on all types of terrain while cracking jokes and sharing restaurant recommendations. Mark impresses with his attentiveness and engaging commentary. Randy wins over groups with his personable, humorous approach. One reviewer who'd had a stroke a decade ago appreciated the extra patience shown during instruction. Families with teenagers, couples on mini-vacations, and groups of ten all report having a blast. The tours range from two-hour excursions to longer adventures covering around ten miles of beautiful Door County scenery.
We did the Cave Point and Whitefish Dunes tour in late September. It was our first time on Segways (and we are both 69)! Mark was our guide and did an awesome job instructing us on using them. He pointed out interesting facts along the way, was very attentive as well as fun and enjoyable to talk with. This company has so many options for tours and had the best prices. Definitely recommend!
