- Stop at Wai’anapanapa State Park and a black sand beach
- Explore coastal tide pools, a blowhole, and a sea cave exit to the Pacific Ocean
- Swim behind a waterfall at Puaʻa Kaʻa State Park if you choose
- Return via the rugged road beyond Hāna and Maui’s young lava fields

Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes, sneakers, or TEVA-style sandals. If you plan to swim, wear your bathing suit under your clothes and pack a towel. Water shoes are optional. Bring flip-flops for the beach, extra clothes to change into after the last swim stop, and a light cover-up or rain jacket in case you hit a passing shower.
